We are proud to anounce that our luxury class catamaran the Galapagos Journey I has been awarded the Smart Voyager Certification. Many would say this is the final step in achieving an eco friendly operation. For Galapagos Journey Fleet it is certainly not the beggining and for sure not the end. It has been a long process of continuos improvement in our environmental practices.
Smart Voyager is an optional eco certification program that is recognized by Rainforest Alliance from New York.
The Smart Voyager program was created in 1998, with the aim to minimize the environmental impacts of tourism.
In the year 2002, Smart Voyager was recognized by UNESCO, as an example that should be implemented in all of the natural patrimonies of humanity. Smart Voyager is a founding member of the Sustainable Tourism Certification Network of the Americas.
In order to obtain the Smart Voyager Certification the Galapagos Journey I has demonstrated it adheres to strict environmental, social, safety and comfort standards.
